Why Bournemouth University is boss, and totally beyond compare.

You might be wondering why I chose Bournemouth University, but why wouldn’t I have? I am blessed with having one of the UK’s most iconic beaches right on my doorstep, a bustling nightlife, and one of the best courses for Journalism in the country. In fact, I’d be daft to not have come here, despite the fact that it’s a four-and-a-half-hour train journey back home.

To begin with, in terms of the clubs and societies on offer, the list is truly endless. I had serious trouble choosing from such a large selection, from athletics and swimming to the Disney society and free-running. I had to remind myself that I was also here to attempt to achieve a degree, not to just turn up for the fun-fair. Even better, each society has its own community of people, so you’re bound to find someone just like you with similar interests, whether it is travelling, a love of dolphins or even cheese. Let’s face it, most of us can relate to at least one of those three.

Another thing you can’t miss about BU is how they pride themselves on catering for every type of student, and the staff dedicate themselves to ensuring you are having a great university experience, offering guidance and support for when perhaps, things are getting a little tough.

This year in particular, they’ve gone the extra mile to achieve maximum student satisfaction and overall happiness for our fresher’s, by employing Resident Assistants for halls and Uni-Let to offer a friendly face, welfare advice, and host a tonne of great events to get students interacting. So far they’ve hosted games nights, ice skating trips, and sometimes even offer our students free pizza! What’s not to love about that?

What’s more, In terms of the facilities on offer at the University, we have recently seen the arrival of our new £22 million ‘Fusion Building’, which is home to 27 brand-new seminar rooms, three modern lecture theatres, extensive research space, rooftop terraces, and our very own smoothie bar (perfect for the health-conscious among us). So, if you’re not down for a burger and chips at Dylan’s Bar, you’re free to grab an acai bowl from Fusion instead. Anyway, for the lucky ones among us who are timetabled for Fusion, you’ll spot them out from a mile, with a noticeable spring in their step as they trot off eagerly towards it, even at 9.am.

It’s probably also worth a mention that Bournemouth University plan to invest £250 million into their estates, facilities, and infrastructure by 2019, and if that’s not something to brag about, I’m not too sure what is.

Anyway, I’m sure you’ve gotten the gist by now. Bournemouth is best. And if you’re considering applying to university in the near future, it should be right at the top of your list next to Oxford and Cambridge.
