A day in the life of a Journalism student

Over the past few weeks, my university have been recruiting for bloggers to advertise university life to prospective students and offer a little advice to current students. Seeking a few brownie points for my CV and in desperate need of some extra funds (thanks to the generous £3 a week I have left over courtesy of student finance) I thought i'd give it a shot and apply.
Thankfully, my application was successful and I'm now a blogger for the uni, (yay!) and so I thought I may as well share my posts with you guys as well, just in case you're interested.
Anyway, Around three weeks ago, I began life as a journalism student, (or a BAMMJ as we like to call ourselves) and I have to say that although shorthand hasn’t exactly been a breeze, and the Tuesday 9am after a night out at DISTRICT isn’t exactly ideal, it’s all been lots of laughs.
During a typical day, I generally rise at around 10am, which I think we can all agree, is manageable. Catching the bus at around half an hour before my lecture, I’ll tune in to a podcast as advised by my tutor. Wait. You’re probably thinking, ‘work, before I even get there?’. Hmm not exactly, most of our further reading is actually quite entertaining and anyway, it’s not often you can count watching The Last Leg as homework.
My first seminar, News and Online, is actually pretty cool. Being taught interviewing skills, writing breaking news stories and pitching ideas is exactly what I envisioned when choosing Journalism, and I certainly haven’t been left disappointed. Heading down to the beach to practice interviewing the public is truly awesome, and we even get the luxury of the Apple Mac’s as well as use of the HD TV studio.
After spending a couple of hours studying, my general vibe at the moment, is that I’ve earned myself a Starbucks or lunch with my new pals at Fusion.
Anyway, if you too see yourself as a future journalist, and want an enjoyable course all within 5 minutes’ walk of the beach, come to Bournemouth, I highly recommend it.
P.S opinion subject to the day it was written, this could all be a novelty.
